Petra by ferry boat over day

The Rose City – Petra – is one of the 7 Wonders of the World you must visit once a lifetime!

Your way to Petra in this excursion will be no less interesting than the tour. Your transfer to Jordan will start from bus trip to Nuweiba. From this point you’ll make a voyage to Aqaba by ferry boat. Here from the coast you can see the landscape of three countries – Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia. The last segment of the path we’ll drive you by bus to the Petra’s Dam.

Petra was built before Christmas and its history as the capital of the Nabataean Empire counted from the 1st century BC.

The Siq is the main entrance to the city that starts from the Dam and leads to the Treasury. Walls of the Siq are decorated with Nabataean sculptures of Gods.

All the building of the Treasury (Al Khazna) was carved from the rock. Its facade will stunned you by dramatic Corinthian capitals, friezes and figures. The central part of facade is crowned by a funerary urn. Local legend tells us that here was a pharaoh’s treasure but in nowadays the real purpose of the Treasury is still unknown.

After Al Khazna the Siq starts to widen and opens to your glance the Street of Facades – the series of monumental Nabataean tombs. To the north of the Treasury lies the King’s Wall with the Royal Tombs – the Urn (the Court), the Corinthian and the Silk Tombs. Each of them has specific architecture as they were built in different times.

The other significant monument you’ll see – the Theatre – has signs of 2 cultures as it was carved during the reign of King Aretas IV and later rebuilt by the Romans.

At the end of excursion to Petra you’ll find one more interesting and great point – the Monastery. Centuries ago it was used as a dining couch for the meetings of religious associations.

Then you’ll have a break for lunch in restaurant and continue uncover Petra’s treasures by walking to the hill of Al-Habis fort. The view from it is ideal for photography.

On your way back we’ll propose you a stop in Aqaba for shopping after which you’ll return to Sharm by ferry and bus in reverse order.

Congratulations for newborn Indiana Jones!
